Send me a message!

Please include your contact information so I can follow up with you. Thanks!

About me:

I have 10 years of counseling experience and a personal background in missions and ministry. I serve missionaries who live overseas and those working in ministry State-side. I integrate clinical counseling with spirituality when desired.

What is the model and why do intensive therapy?

-Sessions are 90 minutes, up to 10 sessions. I can provide referrals for those who wish to continue getting counseling after our sessions together have ended.-Outside “homework” or reading is often given between sessions if a client is open to this.-With this model we can tackle issues like anxiety, depression, relational or marital challenges, trauma, spiritual disillusionment/issues, and the root of addictive behaviors. Though intensive counseling will not “solve everything,” it can be helpful to kickstart growth and healing in an intentional way. For more complex issues or ongoing trauma, the need for receiving additional ongoing therapy will likely be more evident.-There can be much benefit to taking time out of the normal rhythms of life to devote to healing a specific area. This model is a great fit for you if you’re ready to give some time and space to intentional forward movement in your life.

Who do I see?

I work with adults, teens, and couples.

My experience and modalities used:

I have 10 years of counseling experience; I have worked in private practice and also in a college counseling center. Most recently I worked at Olive Tree Counseling Center in Budapest, Hungary serving overseas workers.I tailor treatment to fit each client. At times I utilize EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and find it is often very compatible with the intensive model. I am also trained in formational prayer (Terry Wardle-Healing Care Ministries), Gottman Couples Therapy (Levels 1 & 2), and often use elements of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) throughout my time with clients.

Logistics:

Depending on my availability and your preferences, we can choose to meet once a week for 10 weeks, or twice a week for 5 weeks. Please email me to inquire about my hours.

My story and background

Before starting Streams in the Desert, my family and I had uprooted our lives in Columbus, Ohio and I was working at Olive Tree Counseling Center in Budapest, Hungary. After being there for just 10 months we had been denied visas twice and were forced to return to the US. This was heartbreaking as it was something we had worked towards for years, but in returning to the US God clearly opened other doors for us to serve here. My time at Olive Tree and living in Budapest was very meaningful; I loved what I was doing there so much and felt so called to the work, that I wanted to find a way to continue doing it even from the US.My life has been shaped dramatically by missions as I grew up in Chiang Mai, Thailand as a missionary kid. Because of this I am well-acquainted with the uniquely beautiful and challenging
aspects of living abroad and being immersed in ministry. After college I attended The Ohio State University, and following this I lived in Slovenia for a year and served with Cru. It was there I felt a calling to pursue clinical counseling, and I returned to the States to get my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Ashland Theological Seminary in 2014.
I am passionate about helping those in ministry lead and serve from places of emotional and spiritual health. I love helping people live out their callings and be more effective where God has called them as they step into more full healing for themselves.

Isaiah 43:19

When my husband and I began actively pursuing moving overseas to do missions work back in 2022, we picked this verse as a kind of anthem for us as we raised support, quit our jobs, packed our house and moved to Hungary with our toddler. To us it has meant that even through extreme challenges, change, and dry seasons of life, God’s abundant mercy and love follow us. Many things haven’t worked out for us the way we had planned, but God has been with us in every step, even through many tears and moments of feeling disillusioned. I take this verse with me into my practice now here in Columbus, comforted by the ways God has been a stream of life to me in desert seasons, and excited to offer this same hope to clients I will see here.
